British Roller Derby Championships comes to Leicester
Leicestershire’s Dolly Rockit Rollers (LDRR) is proud to host, and play, in the 5th round of a national roller derby tournament on Saturday 27th June.
As part of the competition for Tier 3 of British Championships, four women’s roller derby leagues will meet on track in Leicester, for the first time this season. Home league LDRR is set to play Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames, whilst Nottingham Rollergirls will compete against Belfast Roller Derby.
Previously LDRR’s Travel Team has played three other teams in their tier, but is yet to achieve a win this season. The Dollies’ Brummie competitors BBDD have one win, and one loss in the tournament. LDRR Co-Captain Jessica Guest (aka Mrs Kripling) says that the Dollies have prepared well for this round of the tournament:
“It has been an amazing experience so far, and we have loved being a part of it. The teamwork DRR have shown so far has been fantastic, and we are going into this next game with a shared focus, and a determined attitude.”
The event, which is family-friendly and features an array of food and merchandise stalls, and representatives from Women’s Aid Leicestershire Limited (WALL – LDRR’s charity of 2015).
